Honeypot Detector & Token Security Scanner

Paste any token contract address and find out if it is a honeypot before you buy. OnChainRisk simulates buy and sell transactions on-chain, detects hidden taxes, blacklist functions, and scores token security across 7 categories.

What Is a Honeypot Token?

A honeypot is a token contract that lets you buy but blocks you from selling. The contract code contains hidden functions that prevent sell transactions, charge 90-100% sell tax, or blacklist buyers after purchase. Thousands of honeypot tokens are deployed every day across Ethereum, BNB Chain, and L2 networks.

What the Honeypot Detector Checks

Buy/Sell Simulation

We simulate actual buy and sell transactions on the DEX pair (Uniswap, PancakeSwap, etc.) to measure the real tax applied:

  • Buy tax percentage
  • Sell tax percentage
  • Whether sell is completely blocked
  • Max transaction amount limits

Bytecode Analysis

The scanner decompiles the contract bytecode and checks for dangerous functions:

  • Blacklist/whitelist functions
  • Owner-only transfer restrictions
  • Hidden mint functions
  • Proxy/upgradeable contract patterns

Token Security Score: 7 Categories

Each token gets a 0-100 security score based on these categories:

Ownership

Is the contract owned? Can the owner change rules?

Mint Authority

Can new tokens be minted after deployment?

Fee/Tax

Are there buy/sell fees? Can they be changed?

Blacklist

Can specific addresses be blocked from trading?

Proxy

Is the contract upgradeable? Can behavior change?

Liquidity

Is LP locked? For how long? What percentage?

Holders

Top holder concentration. Whale risk assessment.

Holder Distribution Visualization

The Token Check page includes a bubble chart showing holder distribution. Quickly spot if the top 10 wallets hold 80% of supply (rug pull risk) or if holdings are spread across thousands of wallets (healthier distribution).

Supported Networks

The honeypot detector works on any EVM-compatible chain with DEX pairs:

How to Use the Honeypot Detector

1

Go to the Token Check page in your dashboard

2

Paste the token contract address (e.g., 0x... on ETH or BSC)

3

Select the network if not auto-detected

4

View the honeypot simulation results, security score, and holder chart

5

Decide whether to trade based on real data, not promises
